Cowboys" Dez Bryant looking for ways to improve his game

After a disappointing 2017 season, Dez Bryant is getting back to basics.

The Dallas Cowboys star plans to work out individually next month with wide receivers coach David Robinson to improve his technique, his footwork and his ability to run a wider variety of routes, according to a report from NFL Networks Jane Slater.

Robinson has gained notoriety as a receivers guru after having success working with players such as Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders and Jordan Reed.

Bryant, wholl be entering his ninth NFL season, caught just 69 of his 132 targets last season (52.3%), a rate considerably lower than many of the leagues other top wideouts. The three-time Pro Bowler hasnt had a 100-yard receiving performance in his last 23 regular-season games.

Golden Tate of the Detroit Lions led all wide receivers last season with a 76.7% catch rate. Other notables included Randall Cobb (71.7%), Tyreek Hill (70.7%), Michael Thomas (69.6%) and NFL receptions leader Jarvis Landry (69.6%).

NFL Network analyst Steve Smith noted in November that Bryants routes were typically limited to three types: a push-off hitch, a jump-ball go and a slant.

Robinson told Dallas radio station KRLD-FM that Bryant, 29, still has the physical skills, they just need some sharpening.

"In my opinion, I definitely think that Dez can run the whole complete route tree," Robinson said. "He just hasnt been asked to do so."
